Tool Making 101
Learn how to make your own blacksmithing tools and more in this class. Students will learn the delicacies of working with tool steel and will make their own fuller, punch, and hot-cut chisel. Time will be spent forging, heat treating, and finishing tools made in the class. This class is essential to anyone looking to further their craft and make the right tool for the right job.
In this class, expect to move lots of metal! Students will start with rectangular blocks of steel and do everything from punching and drifting the eye to shaping and heat-treating the blade. Students can expect to finish forging and heat-treating the ax head, and if time allows, students will get an opportunity to work on grinding.
Pattern Welded/ Damascus Steel
Love the beauty of pattern-welded, otherwise known as Damascus steel? Ready to take on a serious challenge? In this class, we will forge your very own, one-of-a-kind billet of Damascus. The focus of the class will be on techniques and steps for success in making pattern-welded steel. Students will go from bar stock to a ready-to-use billet in this class.
